Elite Competitions alternatives

There is no catch to report here. Elite cap their entries, run a free postal route on the same chance as a paid entry, and their terms give winners a right to elect a cash alternative in defined circumstances. On the things this site usually argues about, they do them. The difference worth your time is narrower than that, and it is about the product rather than the conduct.

What their terms actually say

Three things, and we are quoting them because a comparison that only reports the other side’s weaknesses is not a comparison. Their competitions have an allocated maximum number of entries, and once it is reached the competition is marked sold out and closed. Each competition carries a free entry route alongside the paid one. And each postal entry has the same chance per entry of winning as an online entry.

Their terms also set out circumstances in which a prize winner has the right to elect a cash alternative to the prize.

From Elite Competitions’ own terms, checked 2 November 2026. Terms change, and the detail of when a cash alternative applies is in their document rather than summarised here. Read it before you enter.

The actual difference

A cash alternative is something you elect after winning something else, under conditions somebody has written down. A cash draw is money from the start. If the money was always the point, the second removes a step and a set of conditions from the middle of your win.

The second difference is what happens after the draw. We publish a fingerprint of a secret before entries close, name a public randomness round that has not happened yet, and reveal the secret afterwards, so anyone can recompute the winning number rather than take our word for it. That is a different kind of assurance from watching a draw happen, and we are not suggesting anybody else’s is deficient, only describing ours.

Breadth against focus

A broad site runs cars, tech, holidays and cash, which is genuinely appealing if you like the variety. We run cash and nothing else. That is narrower on purpose: one prize type, odds you can calculate, and no conversion between what you won and what you wanted.

If you would rather spend nothing while you decide, our free draw has no ticket to buy and the postal route is open on every paid competition.

Common questions

Does Elite Competitions cap the number of entries?

Yes. Their terms say that once a competition has sold the maximum number of entries allocated to it, it is marked sold out and no further entries are accepted. That means the total is fixed, which is what lets you work out your chance before you pay. Checked 2 November 2026.

Does Elite Competitions have a free entry route?

Yes. Their terms state that each competition has a free entry route as well as a paid one, and that each postal entry has the same chance per entry of winning as an online entry. Checked 2 November 2026.

Can you take cash instead of the prize at Elite Competitions?

Their terms set out circumstances in which a prize winner has the right to elect a cash alternative. The detail is in their own terms and it is worth reading, because "in defined circumstances" is doing real work in that sentence. Checked 2 November 2026.

So what is actually different here?

Two things, and neither is a criticism. The prize is cash to begin with, so there is no alternative to elect and no circumstances to fall inside. And our result can be recomputed by anybody from numbers published before and after the draw, which is a different kind of assurance from watching something happen.

Which should I enter?

If you want the range — cars, tech, holidays, cash — a broad site gives you that and we do not. If you only ever wanted the money, going straight to a cash draw removes a step. Both publish caps, so compare the price of a given chance rather than the price of a ticket.
