Honest comparison

Omaze alternatives, if it is the cash you want

If you want the house, enter a house draw: nothing here substitutes for that, and we are not going to pretend it does. If what actually appeals is the money, a capped cash competition gives you that directly, and lets you work out your chance before you pay. Below is the difference between the two, with the facts you can check on both sides.

Two different products, side by side

Omaze UK house draws Grand Draws
What you can win A house, usually with a cash sum alongside it. Cash only. Nothing to sell, insure, furnish or pay stamp duty on.
Is the number of entries capped? No. The draw stays open until its closing date. Yes, and the cap is published on the competition before entry opens.
Can you work out your odds before you pay? Not before the draw closes, because the total is not known until then. Yes. Your tickets divided by the published cap.
Is there a free entry route? Yes, by post, stated to carry the same chance as a paid entry, with no limit on entries. Yes, by post, same chance as a paid ticket, same draw.
Where can you enter from? Check their current rules. Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland), 18+.

The Omaze column is taken from Omaze’s own published entry pages (postal entry route), checked 30 October 2026. It is a description of their model, not a judgement of it: an open-ended draw is an ordinary and lawful way to run a competition. Terms change, so read the draw’s own rules before you enter it.

What a checkable chance looks like

Draw Ticket cap 25 tickets Chance
£250 Tax-Free Cash 20,000 £2.25 1 in 800
£500 Tax-Free Cash 27,000 £2.25 1 in 1,080

Tickets are 9p each in minimum orders of 25, or free by post on the same odds. Those chances are the worst case: the cap is the most tickets the draw can ever hold, so if it does not sell out, they improve. Run your own numbers.

The thing worth getting right before you spend

A cheap ticket is not the same as good value, and in this market the two get confused constantly. Nine pence in a 200,000-ticket draw is a longer shot than ten pounds in a five-thousand-ticket draw. The number that matters is what a given chance costs you, which is why the cap is the figure to look for rather than the price.

That is the whole reason a published cap is worth something. It is not a loyalty badge; it is the denominator. Without it there is no sum to do, and any odds figure you see quoted for an open-ended draw is somebody’s estimate rather than a published number. The arithmetic, worked through, covers both cases.

Where we would send you instead

If you want a house, we are not it. If you want a car, we are not that either. We run cash draws, from £2.25 upwards, on published caps, with a draw anybody can recompute afterwards and every winner published.

And if you would rather not spend anything at all, our free draw has no ticket to buy and the free postal route is open on every paid competition.

Common questions

What is a good alternative to Omaze in the UK?

It depends what you actually want. If you want the house, enter a house draw: nothing else substitutes for it, and we do not pretend otherwise. If what appeals is the money, a cash competition gives you that directly, usually at a far lower ticket price, and on a capped draw you can work out your chance before you spend anything.

Does Omaze offer a cash alternative?

Their house prizes are usually advertised with a cash sum alongside the property, and the arrangements are set per draw, so the draw's own rules are the thing to read. What we can say about our own is simpler: the prize is cash to begin with, so there is no alternative to choose and nothing to convert.

Why can you work out the odds here and not on a house draw?

Because of one design decision: whether the number of entries is fixed in advance. Omaze UK house draws are open-ended: there is no published ticket cap, and the total number of entries is not published before or with the result. An open-ended draw keeps selling, so the final odds are only knowable afterwards. A capped draw sets the total before it opens, so your chance is fixed the moment you enter. Both are lawful and ordinary. Only one can be checked before you pay. Checked 30 October 2026.

Is a cheaper ticket better value?

Not on its own, and this is the thing worth being careful about. A 9p ticket in a 200,000-ticket draw is a longer shot than a £10 ticket in a 5,000-ticket draw. The figure that matters is the price of a given chance, not the price of a ticket. Our odds calculator does that arithmetic for any draw, not only ours.

Can I enter for free?

Yes. Every paid competition here carries a free postal route with exactly the same chance as a paid ticket, and we also run an outright free draw with nothing to buy at all. Omaze publish a free postal route too, and state that it carries the same chance as a paid entry.
