The short version
This is a summary to help you read the full terms. It is not a replacement for them, and if anything differs, the full terms below apply.
- These are skill-based prize competitions with cash prizes. You must answer a genuine skill question correctly for your entry to count.
- Every competition has a free postal entry route with the same odds as a paid ticket. No purchase is ever necessary.
- You must be 18 or over and resident in Great Britain (England, Wales or Scotland), and hold no more than one account.
- Every draw goes ahead on its closing date, sold out or not, with the full advertised prize. We never cancel, postpone or shrink a draw because of low sales. Draws run automatically at 9pm on the closing date.
- Draws are independently verifiable. You can check any result yourself at /draw-check, and the full entry list is published before the draw.
- Prizes are cash paid to the winner's UK bank account. We aim to pay within one working day of verifying the winner.
- Every competition has a per-person entry limit, and you can set a spend limit, or ask us for a break, at any time.
- Play fairly: one account, no bots, no scheme abuse. See our acceptable use rules.
1. Who we are (the promoter)
The promoter is HDCH Limited, trading as Grand Draws, company number 16237398, registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at Unit 12 Yeomanry Road, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY1 3EH, United Kingdom. We run the website at https://granddraws.co.uk. You can contact us any time at [email protected].
These terms and conditions apply to every competition we run on this website and to every entry, paid or free. By entering, you accept them. Free promotional draws we run (such as our launch draw) have their own short rules on their page; where those rules differ from these terms, the draw's own rules apply. Please also read our acceptable use rules, privacy policy and responsible play page, which form part of how we operate.
2. Definitions
- We, us, our: the promoter named in section 1. You: the person entering.
- Website: https://granddraws.co.uk and its pages.
- Competition: a skill-based prize competition listed on the Website, with its own competition page.
- Competition page: the page for a specific competition, showing the prize, ticket price, total ticket cap, per-person limit and closing date. Those details form part of these terms for that competition.
- Skill question: the multiple-choice question on the competition page that must be answered correctly for an entry to count.
- Ticket or entry: one chance in a competition's draw, whether obtained by payment or by post. Each ticket has a ticket number.
- Postal entry: a free entry made by post under section 6.
- Draw: the automatic, verifiable selection of a competition's winner, run at 9pm UK time on its closing date, whether or not every ticket has sold.
- Instant win: a prize attached to specific ticket numbers and revealed at the point of entry, rather than at a draw. We do not run them (section 9).
- Account: your free Grand Draws account.
3. Who can enter (eligibility)
Competitions are open to people who are:
- aged 18 or over at the time of entry, and
- resident in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland).
Why Great Britain and not the whole UK. Our competitions are prize competitions under the Gambling Act 2005, and apart from a few listed provisions that Act extends only to England, Wales and Scotland (section 361). Northern Ireland has its own separate gambling legislation. We limit entry to Great Britain so that every competition we run sits inside one legal framework. This is not a judgement about entrants in Northern Ireland, and we will say so plainly here if that position ever changes.
Free promotional draws. Where we have advertised a free draw to a wider group, that draw's own published rules apply to it and are not narrowed by this section. Our free launch draw is open to UK residents, Northern Ireland included, exactly as advertised. See its rules.
Our staff, and any supplier or agent directly involved in running a specific competition, together with members of their households, may not enter that competition.
One account per person. You may hold only one account, registered in your own name with accurate details. Entries made through duplicate or false accounts can be voided under section 12.
Self-exclusion. You can set a monthly spend limit, and record a self-exclusion, in your account. Until paid entries open those choices are saved in your browser and we hold no copy, so emailing us is what puts a limit or a break on the account itself: tell us the period you want and we will close entry for your account for it. Any paid entry we accept in error while you are self-excluded will be voided and the entry fee refunded. See responsible play.
We may ask for proof of identity, age, residence and eligibility at any time, and always before paying a prize (section 8). If you do not meet these conditions, or cannot show that you do, your entries are invalid and any prize can be withheld.
4. The competitions
Every competition on the Website is a skill-based prize competition with a cash prize. Under the Gambling Act 2005 it is a prize competition, not a lottery. Two features keep it that way, and both are permanent parts of how every competition works:
- A genuine skill question. Entry requires you to answer the competition's multiple-choice skill question, and only entries with the correct answer count. This is the skill element required for a lawful prize competition under the Gambling Act 2005.
- A free entry route of equal standing. Every competition can be entered free by post, with the same odds as a paid ticket (section 6).
If you answer the skill question wrongly:
- Online, you cannot complete a paid entry until you have chosen the correct answer. The page tells you whether your selected answer qualifies before you pay, and it never reveals the correct answer.
- By post, an entry with a wrong or missing answer does not qualify and is not placed in the draw.
Each competition's own numbers are on its competition page: the cash prize, the ticket price, the maximum number of tickets in the draw, the maximum number of entries per person, the closing date and time, and the number of winners. The per-person maximum applies to you across paid and postal entries combined, so no one can spend without limit and no one can buy up a draw.
Every draw goes ahead. Each competition is drawn on its published closing date whether or not every ticket sells, and the full advertised prize is awarded. We never cancel, postpone or reschedule a draw, or reduce a prize, because of low sales, and we never extend a closing date to sell more tickets (section 7).
5. How to enter online (paid entry)
- Choose your tickets. Tickets are sold in minimum orders of 25, so an order of fewer than 25 tickets cannot be placed. Pick how many you want, from that minimum up to the per-person limit shown. Some competitions offer bundles such as "buy 250 get 25 free": you pay only for the paid tickets, and the free tickets are real entries with the same chance of winning. Free bundle tickets count towards your per-person limit.
- Answer the skill question. You must select the correct answer before you can continue (section 4).
- Pay. Check out at the price shown on the competition page at the time you enter. Prices shown are the full price you pay, including any VAT, with no extra fees added at checkout. Payment is taken by our payment provider, named here before paid entries open, on their secure systems. We never store your card details on the Website.
- Get your ticket numbers. Your entry exists once your payment is confirmed and your ticket numbers are allocated. We confirm your entry and your ticket numbers in your account and by email.
Tickets in your basket are not entries: an entry is only made when payment is confirmed. Entries must be completed before the closing date and time shown on the competition page, or when the competition sells out, whichever is earlier. Entry fees are payable in pounds sterling.
6. How to enter free by post (no purchase necessary)
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Postal entries receive the same number of entries and exactly the same chance of winning as paid entries: same draw, same odds. The only cost to you is your own postage.
To enter free, send a postcard, or an unenclosed sheet of paper, by first or second class post to:
Grand Draws, Unit 12, Tilstock Crescent, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 6HW
Write all of the following on it:
- your full name, date of birth, address, email address and contact number;
- the exact name of the competition you wish to enter;
- your answer to that competition's skill question; and
- a statement that you are 18 or over and resident in Great Britain.
The rules that keep the free route fair:
- One entry per postcard. Each valid postcard counts as one entry, equivalent to one paid ticket.
- You may send multiple postcards, up to the same per-person limit that applies to paid entries for that competition.
- Entries must be received before the competition's closing date and time. Allow enough time for delivery: proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
- Bulk entries in a single envelope, illegible entries, and entries missing any required detail may be rejected.
- Postal entries must answer the skill question correctly to qualify, exactly like paid entries (section 4).
- Valid postal entries are allocated ticket numbers and appear on the published entry list like any other entry.
A postal entrant does not need a Website account. Your postcard must carry your full name, address, email address, date of birth and your answer to the skill question, which is what we use to verify the entry and to contact you if you win.
The free entry route page carries the same method and is kept in step with this section.
7. The draw
When. Each competition's draw runs automatically at 9pm UK time on its closing date, as shown on its competition page. The draw is not hosted live and is not streamed; it runs on its own and the result is published. Where a competition has more than one winner, all its winners are drawn together.
Every draw goes ahead. Every competition is drawn at 9pm on its published closing date, whether or not every ticket has sold, and the full advertised prize is awarded. We never cancel, postpone or reschedule a draw, or reduce a prize, because of low sales, and we never extend a closing date to sell more tickets.
The entry list. When entries close, the full entry list is locked and published on the Website at the competition's entries page: every ticket number, with the first name and county of the person holding it. Anyone can audit the draw, not just the people in it.
How the winner is picked (provably fair). Winners are selected at random from all qualifying entries, in accordance with the laws of chance, using a verifiable random draw. Every draw uses a commit-and-reveal method that anyone can check:
- Before entries close, we publish a cryptographic commitment (the SHA-256 hash of a secret seed) and name a future round of the drand public randomness beacon, a random value produced by independent organisations that does not exist yet and that nobody, including us, can predict or influence.
- When that round publishes, the winning ticket is computed as the first 8 bytes of
HMAC-SHA256(seed, beacon + "|1"), read as a whole number, mod entries + 1. Where there are multiple winners, winner 2 usesbeacon + "|2"and so on, each choosing from the tickets not already drawn, so no ticket can win twice in one draw. A step-by-step worked example is on /draw-check. - After the draw, we reveal the seed. Anyone can then recompute the whole result in their own browser at /draw-check, which also re-fetches the beacon value directly from drand, so you never have to take our word for any part of it.
The commitment published before close is what removes our ability to influence the outcome: once it is public, we cannot change the seed, and the beacon value is out of everyone's hands. If your own recomputation of a published draw does not match our published result, contact us and we will treat it as a priority under our complaints procedure.
Winners are recorded in our results and winners pages, and the winner is contacted directly. We also publish the standards we hold ourselves to at /standards.
8. Winners, verification and payment
Notification. We contact the winner using their account details as soon as practicable after the draw, and publish the result on our results and winners pages. Keep your contact details up to date in your account: if we cannot reach you, we cannot pay you.
Verification. Before paying a prize we verify the winner's identity, age and eligibility (section 3). This is a standard check that protects everyone, and we keep it quick.
Payment. Every prize is cash. We pay by bank transfer to a UK bank account in the winner's own name, in full, with nothing deducted. There is no fee of any kind to claim a prize. We aim to make the payment within one working day of successful verification; the transfer then clears on the banks' normal timescales. Prizes cannot be claimed by anyone else on the winner's behalf and are not transferable. UK competition winnings are not taxed as income, but your own tax position remains your responsibility: see our guide to tax on winnings.
Publicity. The entry list already shows each entrant's first name and county (section 7), and winners are announced with the same details plus their winning ticket number. Advertising rules (the UK CAP Code) require us to make available a winner's surname and county on request, and to share winner details with the Advertising Standards Authority if asked. If you object to publicity beyond that, tell us before the closing date and we will limit what we publish where we can. We only ever use a winner's photo or video with their consent.
If we cannot reach a winner. We make repeated attempts using every contact detail on the account. If the winner has not responded or completed verification within 14 days of the draw, we draw an alternative winner from the remaining qualifying entries using the same verifiable method, tell the original winner that we have done so, and repeat until the prize is claimed.
How prizes are funded. Every prize is committed before its competition opens for entry, and is paid in full whether or not the competition sold out.
9. Instant wins
We do not currently run instant wins. No Grand Draws competition includes one, and every prize on this website is decided by the main draw on the competition's closing date, as set out in section 8. We are working towards offering them, subject to approval.
If that ever changes, these terms will be updated before any such competition opens for entry, and the competition's own page will set out every prize, how many exist and how many have been claimed. Until then, nothing on this website awards a prize at the point of entry.
10. Rewards, XP, spins and referrals
The Website includes a free promotional rewards layer. It is separate from competition entries, no purchase is ever necessary to take part in it, and everything in it is earned without spending. Buying competition tickets does not earn XP, spins or any other reward in it.
- XP and levels. You earn XP for free activity: daily check-ins, streaks, the wheel, one-off welcome and app gifts, and referring friends. XP fills levels, and levels pay wheel spins.
- Wheel spins. A wheel spin can award nothing (most spins), XP towards your season level, a bonus wheel spin, or free competition entries. It does not award money. Free entries earned through rewards are separate from the per-person entry cap on each competition, and are added on top of it: you may hold a competition’s full paid entry limit and still use earned free entries in the same draw. Up to five earned free entries may be used in any one competition, so they are worth spreading across several. XP and wheel spins are not capped, and the rewards layer will not award more than fifteen free entries to one person in a season. The prize table odds are set in advance and published on the wheel before you spin, and most spins win nothing, by design.
- Streaks and seasons. Daily check-ins build a streak with published milestone rewards, and progress runs in quarterly seasons. Milestone rewards you have earned but not clicked are paid automatically when a season rolls over: you never lose something you reached.
- The welcome wheel. New visitors can spin a welcome wheel once per account. Everyone who spins gets a welcome gift: the wheel decides which one, using a genuinely random draw with its odds published on the wheel itself. You sign in to claim it.
- Referrals. When a friend creates an account through your link, you receive 200 XP and your friend receives 120 XP, immediately. You are also each promised one free competition entry, granted when your friend makes their first genuine entry after launch. You can refer as many different friends as you like, but each friendship pays only once, the new-account bonus pays once per account ever, and self-referral or referring fake accounts pays nothing and can void rewards under section 12.
What rewards are worth. XP, spins, streaks, badges and free entries have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for money. Site credit has been discontinued: on 19 October 2026 every site-credit balance was converted into free entries at £2 of ticket value per entry, with a goodwill entry for anyone whose balance was too small to convert one, and nothing is added to it again. If you believe you still hold a balance, contact us. An earned free entry is worth £2 of ticket value on the competition you use it in, so it buys as many whole tickets as that value covers: more on a cheaper draw than on a dearer one. The number of tickets it buys is shown before you confirm.
Once per account. One-off rewards (for example the welcome wheel and referral bonuses) are limited to one per person and per account, enforced on our servers. Repeating an action, reinstalling, or clearing your browser does not grant a reward twice.
Changes. We may change XP values, wheel segments, spin prize tables, streak milestones and referral rewards from time to time. Changes apply to the future only: they never remove a reward you have already been granted.
11. Cancellations and refunds
Your cancellation rights. Once you enter, your ticket numbers are allocated to you immediately and the entry cannot be withdrawn. If we cancel a competition before it is drawn, we refund every paid entry in full to the original payment method. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Our refund commitments, which apply in any event:
- If we cancel, void or suspend a competition, we refund every entry fee paid for it.
- If we take a payment in error, or take a duplicate payment, we refund it in full.
- If a paid entry is accepted in error while you are self-excluded, we void it and refund the fee (section 3).
We may cancel, void or suspend a competition only where events outside our reasonable control make it necessary. Low ticket sales are never a reason: every draw goes ahead on its closing date (section 7). Refunds under this section go back to the payment method used. Entries voided because of fraud or a serious breach of the acceptable use rules may be refused a refund under section 12. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
12. Acceptable use
To keep every competition fair, all entrants agree to our acceptable use rules. In short: one account per person, no bots or automation, no attempts to exceed entry limits or farm rewards, honest payments, and no interference with the Website or a draw.
If you break them, we may void the entries concerned, remove rewards obtained through the breach, close your account, and refuse future entries. Where a breach involves fraud, including fraudulent payments or unjustified chargebacks, we may withhold related refunds and prizes and report the matter to our payment provider and to the authorities. We will always say what we have done and why, and you can challenge any decision through our complaints procedure.
13. Our responsibility to you (liability)
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Your statutory rights, including your right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to have services performed with reasonable care and skill, are not affected by anything in these terms.
Otherwise, our total liability to you in connection with a competition is limited to the entry fees you paid for that competition. We are not responsible for postal entries that are lost or delayed in the post, for internet, device or bank failures outside our reasonable control, or for you missing a closing date, although none of that removes any right the law gives you.
The Website is provided free to browse and the rewards layer is a free promotion. We work to keep both available and accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability.
14. Your privacy
We handle your personal data in line with UK GDPR and our privacy policy, which explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights. The third-party providers that process data for us are listed at /sub-processors. Marketing emails are sent only with your consent, in line with PECR, and you can withdraw it at any time. Publication of entry lists and winner details is described in sections 7 and 8: if you ask us to delete your data before a prize is paid, we may be unable to verify you and pay it.
15. Complaints and disputes
If something has gone wrong, email [email protected] or use the contact form and choose Complaint. Our full procedure is at /complaints. In summary:
- we acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and give you a reference;
- we give you a written answer within 10 working days, or tell you before then why we need longer and when to expect it;
- if you are not satisfied, you can ask for an escalated review by someone not involved in the original decision, answered within a further 10 working days;
- if we still cannot agree, you can refer the matter to an independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. If we cannot resolve your complaint between us, you may refer it to an alternative dispute resolution provider. We will name the provider we use here before we accept paid entries.
Complaints about a draw can be checked independently first: every draw is verifiable at /draw-check (section 7). Using our complaints procedure never takes away any legal right you already have.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example for new features, legal requirements or clearer wording. The current version is always on this page with its date at the top. Changes apply to the future only: an entry is governed by the terms in force when you made it, and we will not change the essential features of a competition (the prize, the odds, the closing date, or our commitment that its draw goes ahead on that date) after entries have opened, except where the law requires it. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders.
17. Governing law
These terms, and every competition run under them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the part of the UK where you live.
These terms describe how the site actually operates. We update them when the site changes, and the version here is always the current one.
