How to play a free instant win

To play a free instant win you create a free account, open the game and take your one play for that week. There is no ticket to buy, no card field anywhere in it and no fee at any point. Most plays win nothing: there are 58 prizes across 10,000 entry numbers, which is about 1 in 172. The result for your play is settled the moment it is recorded, so the reveal shows you something already decided. 18+, Great Britain.

The free instant win is open to play on the game page, one play per account per week.

How to play a free instant win

  1. 1

    Create a free account

The game needs an account because it has to know that one play belongs to one person, and because it has to confirm you are over 18. That means an email address, a password and your date of birth. There is no payment step and no card field in the signup.

  2. 2

    Read the odds first

The odds are published on the game page, above the thing you are about to play, and they are long: about 1 in 172 of winning anything at all. Read them before you take your play rather than after. They are stated as a number rather than implied, which is the only form that is any use.

  3. 3

Take your one play for the week

One play per account per week. You do not earn extra plays by buying tickets, and there is nothing on sale that produces another one. When you have played, the game tells you when your next play becomes available.

  4. 4

    See what the play returned

Most plays return nothing, which is what long odds mean in practice. A winning play returns cash, from £5 up to £50, or a free ticket into that week's £250 cash draw. The game states which before you leave the screen.

  5. 5

    Collect what you won

The two prize types reach you differently. A free ticket is added to your account automatically and goes into the £250 draw on the same footing as a ticket somebody paid for. Cash goes into the claims queue, where a person checks it and pays it by bank transfer. Neither has a fee attached.

What it costs, in full

Nothing, and it is worth being precise about what that covers, because "free" is a word that often comes with an asterisk somewhere.

There is no entry fee, no ticket, no minimum order and no subscription. You do not have to buy anything first, you do not have to have bought anything previously, and buying something later does not improve the game. There is no postage, because nothing is posted: the free postal route belongs to the paid competitions, not to this.

There is also no charge at the other end. Nobody at Grand Draws will ever ask a winner for a payment, an admin fee or card details in order to release a prize. If a message claiming to be from us ever does, it is not from us.

What you need before you start

Three things, and no more than three:

  • An email address you actually read. It is how the account works and how anything you win is confirmed to you.
  • A date of birth that puts you over 18. The game is for over 18s and the account is age checked at signup, not at the point somebody wins.
  • To be in Great Britain. That is where we run, and it is on the account terms rather than buried in a footnote.

Why there is no skill question on it

Every paid competition on this site carries one, so its absence here is a fair thing to ask about. The answer is that a skill question is there to keep a paid competition outside lottery law, and a lottery needs payment and chance together. Nothing is paid to play this game, so there is nothing for a skill question to cure.

It is the same reasoning the free launch draw runs on. A draw that is free for everyone needs neither a skill question nor a postal route, so we have not added a hurdle for the sake of appearances.

What happens if you forget to play

Nothing bad, and nothing accumulates. A week you did not play is a play you did not take, not a play banked for later. There is no streak to protect here and no penalty for missing one, which is deliberate: a game that punishes you for not turning up is a game designed to make you turn up.

The daily rewards track is the part of the site that does run on streaks, and it is a separate thing with separate prizes. If keeping a daily habit appeals, that is where it lives.

How to play a free instant win, answered

Do I need to buy anything to play a free instant win?

No. A free account is the whole entry requirement, and there is no card field in the signup. Buying competition tickets does not earn plays, improve plays or change what a play can return.

How many free instant win plays do I get?

One per account per week. There is no way to buy another, earn another by spending, or hold more than one at a time, and the game tells you when the next one becomes available.

Does it cost anything to claim an instant win prize?

No. A free ticket is added to your account automatically and cash is paid out by bank transfer after a person has checked the claim. There is no fee, no admin charge and no card needed at either stage, and nobody from Grand Draws will ever ask a winner for a payment.

Do I have to be over 18 to play?

Yes. The game is for over 18s in Great Britain, and the account is age checked when it is created rather than when somebody wins.

Why is there no skill question on the free game?

Because a skill question exists to keep a paid competition outside lottery law, which needs payment and chance together. With nothing to pay there is no payment, so the question would serve no purpose. Our paid competitions all carry one.
