# Free prize draws, and the one we are running

**A free prize draw is one where entry costs nothing, so the promoter commits a prize and draws a winner at random on a stated date.** With no payment to enter it is not a lottery and needs no gambling licence, which is also why it needs no skill question. Ours is for £500 in tax-free cash, one entry per person, drawn automatically at 9pm on Friday 30 October 2026 and paid straight to the winner's bank.

Entries run from 1 October and close at 8pm on Friday 30 October 2026, with the draw at 9pm the same evening. The launch draw page shows whether it is still open.

## Why we are giving away £500 for nothing

Because nobody has heard of us yet. Grand Draws is a new UK cash competition site, and we would rather earn a first look by handing over real money than by buying your attention with advertising alone. A free draw does that honestly: you risk nothing, and we get the chance to show you how our draws actually work.

It also tells you something useful about us before you ever consider spending a penny. You get to watch us run a real draw, publish a real result, pay a real person, and let anyone recompute the outcome for themselves. If we got any of that wrong, you would find out while it cost you nothing. That seems a fairer way round than asking for your card details first.

The £500 is committed before the draw runs, so the number of people who enter changes nothing about the prize or the date. Every draw we run goes ahead on its published closing date with the full prize, sold out or not. [How our draws work](https://granddraws.co.uk/draws).

## How entry works

1. 1 Create a free account An email address, a password and your date of birth, because the draw is open to over 18s only. No card details are requested at any point.
2. 2 Click enter and confirm you are eligible On the £500 launch draw page, click to enter and tick the box confirming you are 18 or over, a UK resident, and have read the rules. One entry per person.
3. 3 The draw runs at 9pm Automatically on Friday 30 October 2026, once entries have closed at 8pm. We email the winner within two working days and publish the result so anyone can check it.

The full rules, the live countdown and the entry button are all on the [£500 launch draw page](https://granddraws.co.uk/launch-draw). If you would like to understand the draw mechanism first, [the draw checker](https://granddraws.co.uk/draw-check) lets you recompute a past result yourself.

## How this differs from our paid competitions

### This free draw

- Nothing to buy, at any stage
- No skill question
- One entry per person
- Enter in a couple of clicks from a free account

### Our paid cash competitions

- Low-cost tickets, with a published ticket cap so you can work out your own odds
- A genuine skill question, required from every entrant
- A [free postal route](https://granddraws.co.uk/free-entry) carrying exactly the same odds as a paid ticket
- Multiple entries allowed, up to the published per-person limit
- Open to Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) only, unlike this free draw which is UK wide

Both are drawn the same way and both go ahead on their closing date with the full prize. The difference is only whether there is anything for sale. [See the paid competitions](https://granddraws.co.uk/competitions).

## Free prize draw questions

### What is a free prize draw?

A promotion where a prize is drawn at random from entries that cost nothing to submit. Because a lottery requires people to pay to enter, an arrangement with no payment in it is not a lottery, so it needs no gambling licence. The promoter is usually paying for attention or for a mailing list rather than making money on entries.

### Is the £500 draw actually free to enter?

Yes. There is no ticket to buy, no postage, no fee and no card details requested at any point, and entering commits you to nothing later. You need a free account, which is an email address, a password and your date of birth for the age check.

### Do I need to answer a skill question?

No. Our paid competitions require a correct answer to a skill question, because that is part of what keeps a paid prize competition lawful. This draw is free, so there is nothing to qualify and no question to answer.

### Will the draw definitely go ahead?

Yes. It runs at 9pm on Friday 30 October 2026 whatever the number of entries, and the £500 is committed in advance. We do not move a closing date, cancel a draw or reduce a prize because of how many people entered.

### How is the winner picked and can I check it?

Automatically, and yes. We publish a sealed seed and name the exact future public randomness beacon round before entries close, then combine the two at draw time and publish the secret half afterwards. Anyone can recompute the result and land on the same entry, so you do not have to take our word for it.

### How would I get the money?

By bank transfer to your own account, for the full amount with nothing deducted. Prize winnings are not taxed in the UK. We email the winner within two working days of the draw and they have 14 days to reply and complete a short identity, age and residency check.

### Can I enter more than once?

No. It is one entry per person, so every entrant has exactly the same chance, and there is no way to buy extra entries because there is nothing to buy. Entries through more than one account are void.
